Try Some Feng Shui at Your Office - for Science
...and for Fun!

Remember how much you loved Science as a kid? Science is all about checking out your world and discovering what is good or what works. The best way to discover is to experiment and observe for yourself. The more you learn, the more you grow. The more you grow, the more you know. Here’s your chance to play with feng shui!

I’ve listed five feng shui recommendations to promote your personal support using the principles of feng shui. Experiment and observe with one or two of these ideas for a couple of weeks. If you feel better, land a new account, or get promoted - keep the changes you’ve implemented and try another! Try it yourself - for Science - and for fun!

1) Get A Power Chair: Get a power chair, one that covers your back up to your shoulders (up to your ears is even better), has arms, is ergonomically supportive, and that has a good solid foundation where the feet meet the ground. If your secretary’s chair is better than yours she is running your office.

2) Protect Your Back: Place your desk so that you have a solid wall at your back. You especially do NOT want a door, a busy hallway, a large mirror, a water feature, an internal T-juncture like a pathway that ends at your back, or a large set of ceiling-to-floor windows.

3) Face The Door: No one likes to have their back to the door. This is one of the most basic feng shui principles! Turn your desk so that you face the door but are not directly in front of the door. Allow space between the front of your desk and the entrance to your office. If you are in a cubicle (God bless you every day!) or work on three different sides of a U-shaped desk, get a monitor mirror (www.monitormirror.com), shiny pencil holder, or silver picture frame to reflect what is coming at you from behind.

4) Size Does Matter: Your desk should be in exact proportion to your position and value in your company. If you are an executive, your desk should be suited to your position. You cannot command other employees from a little desk. If you have an office at home (or you own the business) get a desk that reflects where you want to go in the world, not where you are right now.

5) Clear The Clutter: Everything that belongs to you and your projects is tied to you by a ribbon of energy that defines it as your responsibility. The more ribbons you have to things, papers, and projects on your desk, the less free energy you have to start new projects or clearly direct current ones. Make sure there is no bottleneck at your doorway or anywhere else in your space. Clear your desk at the end of each work day.
