Feng Shui Recommendations for Siting Your Business

Here are a few suggestions for choosing a good business location:

1) Stay Out of the Line of Fire: Do not choose a site that is directly in line with an approaching roadway, such as a T-, L-, or J-shaped intersection. In addition, make sure there are no buildings or landforms aiming sharp corners (known as poison arrows) towards your location.

2) Straight Lines Don’t Occur in Nature: Choose a location on a gently meandering (or oscillating) roadway. Freeways, multi-lane highways, and fly-overs speed cars and potential customers past your location. Select a road that encourages customers to slow down and pull in instead of race by. Avoid steep slopes too, as the energy will fall away from the site.

3) Double Your Traffic With a Corner Site: Traffic can enter from two approaches when you have a corner site. Even better is to have a doorway across the corner. Bring in the energy with doors that open inward instead of those that open out only. Those that swing both ways are preferred over those that just open out.

4) As a Matter of Fact You DO Want It All: Spend some time standing outside the location you’re considering. One side of the street or mall corridor will have more traffic than the other. Take the time to observe and literally count the customers. Bring a friend if necessary. It might be that there is more sun or more shops on one side. Whatever it is that brings the most customers - you want it on your side. Where the most energy pools is your most prime location. Avoid empty areas as neighbors - there’s little or no energy gathering there.

5) The Inside Scoop: If you are on a curving street, choose a site inside the curve of the arc, rather than outside. Place planter boxes, banners, or other features at your door to attract attention and energy. Include a decorative sphere somewhere near your front door and you’ll attract the sweetest energies of all.
